Housing sales across Turkey increased by 20.1% in February compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 112.818. The cities with the highest number of house sales were Istanbul with 19.347, Ankara with 10.791, and Izmir with 6.899, while the cities with the lowest number of house sales were Ardahan with 24, Tunceli with 70, and Bayburt with 73.
Housing sales increased by 29.1% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 224.991.
Mortgaged house sales amounted to 16.778
Mortgaged house sales across Turkey increased by 90.1% in February compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 16.778. The share of mortgaged sales in total house sales was 14.9%. Mortgaged house sales that took place in the January-February period increased by 127.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 33.504.
In February, 3.956 and in the January-February period, 7.812 mortgaged house sales were realized as first hand.
96.040 houses changed hands as a result of other sales types
Other house sales across Turkey increased by 12.9% in February compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 96.040. The share of other sales in total house sales was 85.1%. Other house sales that took place in the January-February period increased by 20.1% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 191.487.
The number of first-hand house sales was 33 thousand 784
The number of first-hand house sales across Turkey increased by 18.2% in February compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 33 thousand 784. The share of first-hand house sales in total house sales was 29.9%. In the January-February period, first-hand house sales increased by 23.6% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 66 thousand 569.
79 thousand 34 houses changed hands in second-hand house sales
The number of second-hand house sales across Turkey increased by 21.0% in February compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 79 thousand 34. The share of second-hand house sales in total house sales was 70.1%. In the January-February period, second-hand house sales increased by 31.6% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 158 thousand 422.
1.457 houses were sold to foreigners in February
House sales to foreigners decreased by 21.1% in February compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 1,457. The share of houses sold to foreigners in total house sales in February was 1.3%. The cities with the highest number of houses sold to foreigners were Istanbul with 539, Antalya with 503 and Mersin with 89, respectively.
Housing sales to foreigners decreased by 23.1% in the January-February period compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 3.044.
