110.795 houses were sold in March across Turkey

Housing sales across Turkey increased by 5.1% in March compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 110.795. The cities with the highest number of house sales were Istanbul with 19.820, Ankara with 10.203, and Izmir with 7.513, while the cities with the lowest number of house sales were Ardahan with 28, Bayburt with 33, and Tunceli with 63, respectively.

Housing sales increased by 20.1% in the January-March period compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 335.786.

 

Mortgaged house sales amounted to 18.225

Mortgaged house sales across Turkey increased by 41.5% in March compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 18.225. The share of mortgaged sales in total house sales was 16.4%. Mortgaged house sales in the January-March period increased by 87.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 51.729.

 

In March, 4.331 and in the January-March period, 12.143 mortgaged house sales were realized as first hand.

 

92.570 houses changed hands as a result of other sales types

Other house sales across Turkey increased by 0.1% in March compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 92.570. The share of other sales in total house sales was 83.6%. Other house sales in the January-March period increased by 12.7% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 284.057.

The number of first-hand house sales across Turkey decreased by 3.2% in March compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 33.307. The share of first-hand house sales in total house sales was 30.1%. In the January-March period, first-hand house sales increased by 13.2% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 99.876.

 

77.488 houses changed hands in second-hand house sales

The number of second-hand house sales across Turkey increased by 9.1% in March compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 77.488. The share of second-hand house sales in total house sales was 69.9%. In the January-March period, second-hand house sales increased by 23.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 235.910.

House sales to foreigners decreased by 11.5% in March compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 1.574. The share of house sales to foreigners in total house sales in March was 1.4%. The cities with the highest number of house sales to foreigners were Istanbul with 635, Antalya with 496 and Mersin with 141, respectively.
